Natural Wool Insulation Do it yourself
Natural Wool Insulation Install Process
Installing PURE WOOL LIFE INSULATION is an easy and safe process no matter if you do it yourself or through a contractor, there is no risk involved in the installation of the product, no toxic off-gassing like Spray Foam, borax like Cellulose and other wool products or fiberglass particles suspended in the air.
PURE WOOL LIFE INSULATION is manufactured into small balls to give it the elasticity that it needs to resist slumping. These small balls are designed to be blown into attics and walls, and because wool is a natural fiber, there is no need for any protective clothing, eye protection, or breathing apparatus during installation.

It is installed as a blown in insulation and can be installed in the same places than any other type of insulation using a blowing machine like a simple leaf blowing machine for individual installation, and regular wool insulation blowers for commercial use.

1.- Measure and Calculate the area you want to insulate
2.- Install the Blown in Mesh on the walls and/or Attic Rafters.
3.- Blow in your PURE WOOL LIFE INSULATION
The insulation values resulting from the installation of Wool Life Products Pure Wool Insulation depends on the thickness of the installed product. Typical coverage rates for given R-values and density are shown below.
Fiber Mesh
Wool Life Products provides a natural fiber mesh to contain the knops within each wall compartment. This mesh is held by stapling it to the joists prior to blowing in our pure wool insulation.
Calculate the R-Value you need
The insulation value depends on the thickness of the installed product. Typical coverage rates for given R-values and density are shown below.
R-VALUE | HEIGHT INCHES | LBS/ FT2 |
---|---|---|
10 | 2.0 | 0.20 |
15 | 3.0 | 0.30 |
20 | 4.0 | 0.40 |
25 | 5.0 | 0.50 |
40 | 8.0 | 0.80 |
50 | 10.0 | 1.00 |
1.- First of all measure all areas to be insulated, measure width, height and rafter thickness or inch thickness you desire (In Attics).
2.- Calculate the Square feet you need, and multiply it times lbs /ft2 value shown in our above table.
3.- Get an Estimate of your PURE WOOL LIFE INSULATION
4.- Be prepared to install:
In Attics
Installing your Pure Wool Insulation in the attic
is a Simple process, all you need is a regular leaf Blower Like the one shown in our video.
Prior to installation, we recommend that you follow these guidelines:
- Safety checks – secure and prepare the installation area, making sure that all downlights are covered
- Measurements – approximate amount of insulation needed
- Preparation – ensure you have the necessary tools
Recommended items for use during installation in a typical project:
- Ladder
- Portable lighting
- Tape measure
- Wool Life Products height indicators
- Light covers – prevent the over-heating of down-lights and other electrical fixtures
Wool Life Products has a range of blowing machines available that are not only suitable for individual installation, but also for commercial use.

Attic Insulation
While optional, Wool Life Products, provides a natural fiber mesh to contain the knops in an attic to prevent movement in high wind areas.
In Walls
Installation on Walls will be done first installing a Blow in Mesh stapled to rafters, we recommend a hammer stapler or a pneumatic stapler to make it easier.
